Dit jaar is het laatste jaar van Jeanne Lamon als muzikaal leider van het in 1979 opgerichte Canadese barokensemble Tafelmusik.
Deze speciale CD-editie werd geselecteerd door Lamon en bevat concerten van haar over de periode 1991 tot en met 2011 samen met Tafelmusik en is de bekroning van haar dertigjarig leiderschap.
Een mooie afwisselende en in balans zijnde selectie tussen Vivaldi en Bach favorieten en muziek van minder bekende goden als Schmelzer en Geminiani. Van de vier Orchestral Suites van Bach horen wij een opvallend degelijke uitvoering van de Suite No. 2 in B mineur.
Lamon heeft een lenige en heldere stijl die een behoorlijke hoeveelheid dynamische variatie toevoegt wat bijvoorbeeld weer goed werkt in Vivaldi's "Zomer" concert van de Vier Jaargetijden.
Music Director of Tafelmusik since 1981, Jeanne Lamon has been loved by audiences, and praised by critics in Europe and North America for her virtuosity as a violinist and her brilliant musical leadership. Under her direction, Tafelmusik achieved international stature with over 80 recordings to its name, and with tours to over 350 international cities including invitations to the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in the world.
Including beloved works such as “Summer” from The Four Seasons, the Bach Concerto in d minor for two violins and a diverse selection of baroque repertoire, this Special Edition CD was selected by Jeanne Lamon, and features her in virtuoso concertos from 1991 to 2011 for Sony Classical and Analekta – to be released in this special commemorative edition on the Tafelmusik Media label. This will be Jeanne Lamon’s final year as full-time Music Director of Tafelmusik, and this CD is in celebration of her exceptional 3-decade leadership.
“What would a virtuoso violin CD be without one of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons? For me, “Summer” has always been the one I most enjoy playing. It’s stormy, full of nature effects and … well, it reminds me of my favourite time of year! The Bach Concerto for 2 violins has always been my favourite piece of music, my desert island choice. It would be unthinkable not to include it in this CD of my favourites. The fact that this recording is funding our young artist training programmes is incredibly moving to me,” says Jeanne Lamon.
Proceeds from this special limited edition CD on the Tafelmusik Media label will fund Tafelmusik’s extensive emerging artist training programmes.
