Bijna een eeuw geleden schreef Gustav Holst (1874-1934) één van de beroemdste stukken van de Engelse muziekliteratuur. The Planet werd in 1918 door Adrian Boult voor het eerst uitgevoerd. In dit doosje is een opname van Ardian Boult met de London Philharmonic Orchestra uit 1978, Naast deze betoverende muziek heeft Holst, op basis van persoonlijke belangstelling, unieke eigenzinnige werken geschreven voor onderwijs, de volkszang, Europese advant-garde en Indiase mystiek. EMI heeft ervoor gezorgd dat alle muzikele genres van fanfare tot opera vertegenwoordigd zijn, waarbij de beste Engelse musici voor de uitvoering tekenen.
