Hoewel Martha Argerich al jaren geen recitals meer geeft, is haar spel nog met grote regelmaat wereldwijd te horen, meestal in combinatie met bevriende muzikanten. Toch was de verrassing groot toen zij in april van dit jaar met meesterpianist en dirigent Daniel Berenboim in Berlijn optrad. Beiden komen uit dezelfde stad, kennen elkaar al sinds hun tiende, maar hebben meer dan een decennium het podium niet met elkaar gedeeld. Samen speelden ze mooie vertolkingen van Mozarts sonate K448 en Schuberts variaties D813, maar het echte vuurwerk bewaarden ze voor Stravinsky. Diens Sacre du printemps in de oorspronkelijke versie voor twee piano's klonk zelden zo urgent. Goed nieuws dus, dat van dat meteen al legendarische concert nu een cd-opname beschikbaar is.
