Recensie

Jethro Tull bewijst al een aantal malen dat een zeer goede reissue niet belachelijk duur hoeft te zijn. Wat dat betreft kan Sir Paul daar nog een voorbeeld aan nemen. Ook Songs From The Wood heeft een prima opknapbeurt gekregen. Oké, je moet het eens zijn met een remix van een klassieke plaat, maar Steven Wilson heeft dit opnieuw met respect gedaan en tegelijkertijd een aantal andere nummers meegenomen. De originele mix vind je overigens op een van de dvd’s als een flat transfer naast een 5.1 mix. Bovendien is er een liveregistratie in beeld te vinden van een 1977 Jethro Tull concert in Landover. Dit concert is ook te vinden op de tweede en derde schijf. De eerste vier nummers daar zijn overigens van Boston. Dit concert is uitstekend van karakter en heeft een mooie balans tussen oud en (dan) nieuw materiaal. De band is prima op dreef en wat wil je dan nog meer. Om het geheel af te maken is ook hier weer een fraai, en vooral uitgebreid boekwerk toegevoegd met achtergrondinformatie en foto’s. Zo moet het dus!
