Recensie

A symphonic poem for four pigs.

After several intense and fruitful collaborations with other artists
the past few years, Artvark will this fall release a new album as
quartet. Not an eclectic programme as you might expect from
this group; this time they will bring one story, in one breath. The
listener will be invited to join them on a journey from a single
tone into a kaleidoscopic tissue of pulsating rhythms, colourful
harmonies and tumbling melodies.
Rolf Delfos (alto sax), Bart Wirtz (alto sax), Mete Erker (tenor sax) and Peter Broekhuizen (baritone sax) mix their different backgrounds to a unanimous, creative and original sound: the sound ofArtvark!

Artvark has been around for over 12 years and have played at major international festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Caïro Jazz Festival and Jazz Brugge. They have engaged in special collaborations with artists as varied as jazz legend Peter Erskine, the Danish rock band Efterklang, classical soprano Claron McFadden, Dutch actor John Buijsman and Dutch author Kees van Kooten. They are currently playing two reprises: their theatre concert ‘Homelands’, in collaboration with singer Ntjam Rosie, and ‘Bosch in Bed’ together with dance group De Stilte from Breda, the Netherlands. Their special collaboration with Apollo Saxophone Quartet from Manchester will be intensified with a new programme in 2018
