Robin Ticciati bouwt aan een indrukwekkende reeks Berlioz-opnames sinds hij benoemd werd als chef-dirigent van het Schotse kamerorkest. Dat resulteerde al in een zeer goed ontvangen opname van de Symphonie Fantastique, en ook dit album met mezzosopraan Karen Cargill is van een uitzonderlijk hoog niveau. Zowel in de liedcyclus Les nuits d’été als La mort de Cleopatre en de liefdesscène uit Romeo et Juliette realiseert het orkest een prachtige klank, die prachtig kleurt bij het warme mezzogeluid van Cargill.

Robin Ticciati cements his reputation as an outstanding Berliozian with his latest recording, ‘Berlioz: Les nuits d’été’, which includes excerpts from Roméo & Juliette and La Mort de Cléopâtre.

A pupil of Sir Simon Rattle and the great Berliozian Sir Colin Davis, Robin’s reputation as one of this generation's best conductors was assured when he was announced as the next music director of Glyndebourne, taking over from Vladimir Jurowski in 2014.
