Atlanta-based band Manchester Orchestra have always prided themselves on their approach to consistently releasing album after album, pushing each other to the highest possible creative heights each time. But the constant will to achieve great things artistically also goes hand in hand with the goal of personal development.

But what does a musician who is used to writing self-reflectively do - what does he sing about - when life is really good? How do you write songs about happiness?

Slowly the band realized that for the album A Black Mile To The Surface they had to find a completely new path and explore new places. It was at this moment of perplexity that Hull and MacDowell received an offer to compose music for a movie.

The result was the soundtrack to Swiss Army Man, which became a Sundance hit with what the New York Times called a marvelously melancholic score that was celebrated around the world.
