John Lennon heeft niet veel live gespeeld na het uiteenvallen van The Beatles. Maar op 30 augustus 1972 waren John Lennon & Yoko Ono & The Plastic Ono Band met de gelegenheidsband Elephant's Memory de headliners van twee historische ONE TO ONE concerten in Madison Square Garden, New York City. Deze benefietconcerten voor een gezamenlijk publiek van 40.000 mensen droegen bij aan het inzamelen van meer dan $1,5 miljoen ter ondersteuning van kinderen met een verstandelijke beperking. Het waren John Lennons enige volledige concerten na zijn vertrek bij The Beatles en de laatste twee volledige concerten die John & Yoko samen gaven. Het zijn niet de minsten die het iconische duo begeleiden, onder meer Jim Keltner, Phil Spector, Allen Ginsberg en Stevie Wonder. Op de meest deluxe versies vind je ook overige live-uitvoeringen van Lennon/Ono, waaronder die afkomstig van ‘Sometime In New York City’. Daarop iconisch geworden tracks en jams met Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention, Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann en George Harrison. Dat alles natuurlijk prachtig verpakt met boek en met replica’s van concertkaartjes, backstagepassen, stickers en posters.
