ATOBE, SHINICHI

Shinichi Atobe’s 2026 album Silent Way is a pricklier, brilliantly complex, and uncompromisingly hypnotic evolution from the reclusive cult legend of dub-techno. Marking a major milestone as his first full-length effort released on his own Plastic & Sounds imprint rather than his longtime home at DDS, the record reveals an artist actively testing the boundaries of his own sound. Instead of relying solely on the deep, ocean-floor house grooves and smooth loops that defined his past masterworks, Atobe intentionally breaks his own molds here, lacing his trademark minimalism with sharp, microtonal dissonance and beautifully jarring, clashing textures.
