POISON GIRL FRIEND

Shyness is the critically acclaimed debut album by the Japanese electronic project POiSON GiRL FRiEND (the moniker of singer and producer nOrikO), released on July 21, 1993, via Nippon Columbia. The album is highly regarded for its unique, dreamy blend of ambient techno, trip-hop, synth-pop, bossa nova, and French chanson, all tied together by nOrikO's signature whispered vocals.

Recorded and mixed primarily in London, the album was produced and arranged by eccentric British musician Momus, with additional contributions from respected European indie figures like Simon Fisher Turner and Louis Philippe. This international collaboration gave the record a sophisticated, cinematic, and European art-pop aesthetic that stood out significantly in the 1993 Japanese music landscape.
