Veel mensen zien de eerste twee soloplaten van Lennon als zijn beste. Is de eerste rauw, de tweede is meer uitgewerkt. We hebben het dan over Imagine dat uitkwam in 1971 en Lennons meest verkochte album zou worden. Over de jaren is de plaat regelmatig opnieuw uitgebracht. In 1987 kwam de eerste cd-versie, in 2000 een geremixte versie om in 2010 weer terug te keren naar de originele mix. Voor deze versie is opnieuw een remix gemaakt die op de eerste cd aangevuld is met remixversies van de eerste singles, waaronder Power To The People en Happy X-mas (War Is Over). Op de tweede schijf vinden we verschilende album-outtakes, maar ook van vier nummers Elements Mixes, waarin enkele muzikale elementen centraal gesteld zijn. Zo vinden we een strijkersversie van Imagine en een piano, bass & drumversie van Jealous Guy. De ontbrekende zes nummers zijn overigens op een van de bijgevoegde blu-rays te vinden. De derde cd bevat de plaat in ruwe mixen zoals John en Yoko ze hoorden tijdens de opname, dat wil zeggen voordat zij samen met Spector de opnames voorzagen van allerlei toeters, strijkers en bellen. Bovendien zijn hier enkele outtakes toegevoegd. De vierde schijf bevat een evolutieversie van de plaat. Van elk nummer wordt de ontwikkeling van demo tot eindproduct gevolgd en het biedt een kijkje in de keuken van een klassieker. Vaak zijn dvd’s of blu-rays een kleine toevoeging aan een box. Dat is hier niet het geval. Behalve dat de originele Quad-mix uit 1971 van de plaat terug te vinden is, is ook al het materiaal beschikbaar in een 5.1-mix. Bovendien zijn ook van de singles de Element mixes (die evolutiemixen) toegevoegd. Het geheel is gevat in een fraaie box met een mooi boekwerk. Echt een fraaie reissue dus en een waar, eerlijk is eerlijk, die andere Beatle qua muzikale extra’s een voorbeeld aan kan nemen.
