SNACKBAR THE AMBASSADOR

This limited edition 7" turquoise coloured vinyl is packaged in a printed brown paper inner sleeve, a high quality reproduction of König’s drawing 'Iedere Dag Vakantie' and a transparent PVC outer sleeve. The original drawing was made in 2020 with color pencil and acrylic marker on silkscreen-print, 78,5 x 50 cm on paper.

SNACKBAR the Ambassador is a moniker of transdisciplinary artist Matthias König, based in The Hague (NL), interweaving music, performance- and visual arts. For the past few years, König has immersed himself in the 'celebration of the delirious life', resulting in several large art installations, consisting of (sound) sculptures, drawings, videos and photos, exhibited in museums and art initiatives. During this period he recorded hours of audio compositions in his studio, that explore electronic- and folklore music vocabulary and strongly relate to his visual work, but have remained unpublished.

This release is the exciting prelude to a larger body of work, the essence of the amassed studio recordings, where the music and visual arts of Matthias König merge into his carefully crafted alter ego SNACKBAR the Ambassador, who also started acting out in disruptive but infectious live performances, dressed in elaborate costumes. The ultimate goal in the collaboration with Esc.rec. is a compounded collectible art object and 12" album.

The sound of SNACKBAR the Ambassador is best described as a toxic concoction of deconstructed folklore, electronic beat and space explorations, otherworldly sounds, dub, cumbia, schlager, humpa and experimental electronics. Endearing, ugly, attractive, abrasive, compelling and taunting at the same time.
