THE MOCKS zijn de jongste en meest explosieve 60’s-style band uit Nederland sinds decennia en ze zijn eindelijk klaar om hun debuutalbum op de wereld los te laten!
De band heeft in hun prille bestaan al vele Spaanse, Duitse, Franse en Belgische podia veroverd. Ook deden ze Nederlandse festivals zoals Zwarte Cross aan en waren ze de meest geboekte band van de Popronde in 2023. Ze zijn dan ook een live band pur sang en het is producer en scene-veteraan Arjan Spies (The Kik, Fleur, Les Robots) gelukt om deze rauwe live energie analoog vast te leggen in Studio Teepdek.
Het eindresultaat is hun debuutplaat “Do You Want Me Too?” waarop 10 ijzersterke tracks, variërend van stompende garage tot fuzz-gevulde freakbeat staan. Toch wordt er ook gas teruggenomen halverwege het album met een ballade en een instrumentale ode aan filmsoundtracks.
De invloeden van legendarische nederbeat bands zoals The Motions, Q65 en The Outsiders zijn duidelijk, maar de drie heren harmoniseren qua zang alsof ze eigenlijk een vermomde powerpop band zijn. Een uniek contrast met al het zware gebeuk en gescheur van de gitaren en drums.
No-nonsense drummer Jimi straft de varkenshuiden als een ware maniak, terwijl de excentrieke Tim zijn gitaar laat gillen en kreunen over de hollow body basfunderingen van songwriter Rens die zo vol en dik zijn, dat je ze in je onderbuik kunt voelen.
The Mocks, also known as the youngest and most explosive 60’s influenced band from The Netherlands in decades, are finally ready to unleash their first full length album onto the world!
In their short existence, the group has already conquered many Spanish, German, French, Belgian and Dutch stages. They are a true live band and producer Arjan Spies (The Kik, Les Robots, Fleur) has managed to capture this raw energy analogue on tape in Studio Teepdek.
The end result is their debut album “Do You Want Me Too?” which contains 10 solid tracks, ranging from stomping garage to fuzz-filled freakbeat.
The influences of legendary Dutch beat bands such as The Motions, Q65 and The Outsiders are clear, but the three gentlemen harmonize in terms of vocals as if they are actually a power pop band in disguise. A unique contrast to all the heavy pounding and tearing done by the guitars and drums.
No-nonsense drummer Jimi punishes the pigskins like a true maniac, while the eccentric Tim lets his guitar scream and moan like a banshee over hollow body bass lines by songwriter Rens that are so full and thick, you can feel them in your gut.
