Als Metallica iets doet, doet Metallica het goed. ‘Load’ uit 1996, de opvolger van ‘Metallica’, komt als remaster opnieuw uit. Destijds klokte het album nagenoeg 79 minuten, bijna de maximale lengte van een cd. Het was wat er op de promosticker op het doosje stond: 78:59. Op de sticker van de box staat nu 1800. In de meest Deluxe boxset maar liefst 301 nummers, waarvan 245 nooit eerder beschikbaar, waaronder de lange versie van ‘The Outlaw Thorn’, die vanwege de maximale lengte van de cd destijds werd ingekort. In deze limited edition, die meer dan vijf kilo weegt, verder nog, en dit wordt een vrij uitgebreid verhaal: het originele album op lp en cd, de ‘Mama Said’ picture disc, drie live-lp’s, vijftien cd’s, vier dvd’s, MP3 download van alle audio, tour laminates, een poster, patch, print, plectrums, een boek en nog meer memorabilia.

Produced by Bob Rock, Load is the follow-up to Metallica, the best-selling album of the Soundscan era. Load contains fan favorites including “Until It Sleeps,” “Hero of the Day,” and “King Nothing,” and for the first time ever, the original extended version of “The Outlaw Torn” that was originally edited due to manufacturing limits. Remastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering and overseen by executive producer Greg Fidelman.
