Originally assembled to mark Randy’s 50th anniversary, this first chapter maps the explosive creativity of the 1960s, opening with the jubilant independence-era ska of Lord Creator and unfolding into rocksteady and early reggae.
The collection plays like a roll call of foundational voices and groups, featuring performances by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Toots & The Maytals, Rico, The Skatalites, John Holt and Alton Ellis. Together, these recordings capture the evolution of a scene as it moved from dancefloor-driven ska to deeper, more soulful forms.
