bratsummer was zo groot dat het waarschijnlijk in de geschiedenisboeken zal verschijnen. Het leek wel alsof de wereld vorig jaar in de ban was van een felgroen vlak en vier kleine letters. De cool messy girl aesthetic is nu niet meer weg te denken uit ons straatbeeld, evenals er de komende jaren geen clubnacht zal bestaan zonder Guess.
En dan nu een album geïnspireerd op een van de meest dramatische, theatrale, duistere verhalen aller tijden: Wuthering Heights van Emily Brontë. Geen zonnebril of sigaret gaat hiermee samen. Toen Charli XCX door regisseur Emerald Fennel werd gevraagd een nummer te maken voor de nieuwe verfilming van dit boek (waarvan we sowieso iedereen eens aanraden te lezen, een stormige winter is hiervoor de perfecte gelegenheid), besloot ze er gelijk een heel album van te maken. Want alleen zo kon ze écht diep in de personages duiken, in een wereld die rauw, wild sensueel, gothic, Brits en pijnlijk is.
Het album verschijnt op 13 februari, wanneer ook de film in de bioscoop wordt verwacht.
“Wuthering Heights” is Charli xcx’s album written for Emerald Fennel’s highly anticipated film “Wuthering Heights”, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. The album will be released alongside the film on Valentine’s Day 2026.
Charli xcx has redefined popular music. Her innovative style and entrepreneurial drive have reshaped pop culture. Her album, BRAT, released last June, was the most critically acclaimed album of 2024, earning her five BRIT Awards and three Grammy Awards.
On screen, Charli is producing and starring in A24’s “The Moment,” an original concept created by her and the first co-production venture from studio365, scheduled to be released in 2026. Additionally, she is co-executive producing the score for the A24 film "Mother Mary" with Jack Antonoff and will also star in Daniel Goldhaber’s remake of the 1978 cult horror film “Faces of Death.” Charli has several other roles in various stages of production, including Greg Araki’s erotic thriller “I Want Your Sex,” Cathy Yan’s independent film “The Gallerist,” Julia Jackman’s period fantasy “100 Nights Of Hero,” Romain Gavras’ satirical action “Sacrifice,” and Pete Ohs’ intimate drama “Erupcja.”
