Hun debuut K dateert van 30 jaar geleden en sinds die tijd is er weinig veranderd rond Kula Shaker. Ze spelen nog steeds in de zelfde bezetting en hun muziek is nog steeds een mix van Britpop, vermengd met Indiase invloeden die vergelijkingen opriepen met het oeuvre van George Harrison. Het bleek geen gimmick maar een geheel eigen stijl die weliswaar niet vernieuwend is maar wel tijdloos. En op hun achtste album bewijst Kula Shaker dat die stijl nog steeds een heerlijke plaat oplevert. Natuurlijk zit er een retro-invloed in hun werk. Opener My Lucky Number, kent de zelfde rifjes en koortjes als die The Beatles in hun songs verwezen en op Broke as Folk zit een knipoog naar Dark Side Of The Moon. Single Good Money, gedreven door stuwende ritmes legt de rode draad van Wormslayer bloot: de negatieve kanten van de muziekindustrie. Wormslayer verveelt geen moment met als hoogtepunt het titelstuk zelf. Voor liefhebbers van Britpop en psychedelica een must. (Ron Bulters)
