K7 kultuur - van Eigen Bodem - elektro pioniers - independent - DIY - minimal wave
Cassettebandjes waren in de 80-er jaren wat medio het millennium cd'tjes bakken werd en heden ten dage grotendeels ingenomen is door de streaming-platforms. De cassette was betaalbaar en toegankelijk; voor luisteraars én artiesten.
Holland grossierde in een Grote hoeveelheid K7 labels waarvan Trumpett Tapes als eerste in 1982 deze verzameling in een oplage van 600 stuks uitbracht die in no time uitverkocht. Ook de heruitgave, kort nadien, van 150 exemplaren was zo weg.
Een opmerkelijk staaltje muzikale inventiviteit en experimenteerdrift van eigen bodem. Artiesten die thuis of in 'n simpele studio voornamelijk elektronisch geënte en gedurfde muziek maakten. Voorlopers van wat tijden later Electro, Minimal Wave (en Meer) zou gaan beïnvloeden.
Op initiatief van een ware muziekliefhebber (Johnny van de Koolwijk; kookuhl hem maar even) wordt deze compilatie 44 jaar later op vinyl uitgegeven. Grijp je Kans!

Released in 1982 on Trumpett, the Colonial Vipers cassette offered an extensive snapshot of the Dutch home-taping scene at its creative peak. One of the earliest compilations of its kind, it brought together a diverse array of underground artists, nearly all contributing exclusive tracks. For this reissue, 13 of these rare pieces have been carefully selected, highlighting the experimental energy that defined the era.

Naturally, it features core Trumpett artists Ende Shneafliet, whose moody, otherworldly minimal synth composition captures the spirit of early ‘80s electronic experimentation, and Doxa Sinistra, blending cold wave and experimental electronics in ways that remain strikingly fresh today. Also present are acts such as Van Kaye & Ignit, Nice Circles, and The Actor, whose minimalist infectious tracks epitomize the DIY synth ethos of the period.
