Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki (2016) is an intimate, raw, and deeply poignant documentary that strips away the mythological aura of animation's greatest master to reveal the complex man underneath. Directed by Kaku Arakawa, this fly-on-the-wall film captures Hayao Miyazaki in 2015, following his high-profile 2013 "final" retirement after The Wind Rises. Instead of a peaceful victory lap, the camera documents 700 days of an artist battling the suffocating stillness of an empty studio, his own mortality, and a restless creative drive that refuses to die.
