Recensie
Originally released in 1996, Beats, Rhymes & Life is the fourth studio album from legendary hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest. Following the success of their groundbreaking albums The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders, the group continued to push the boundaries of hip hop with a more mature, introspective sound that blended smooth jazz samples, soulful melodies, and thought provoking lyricism.
Featuring the classic singles “1nce Again” and “Stressed Out,” the album showcases the unmistakable chemistry of Q-Tip and Phife Dawg, alongside contributions from Ali Shaheed Muhammad and guest appearances by Consequence and Faith Evans. Production from The Ummah, a collective featuring Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and J Dilla, helped shape the album's warm, laid back sound. Beats, Rhymes & Life debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album, further cementing A Tribe Called Quest's legacy as one of hip hop's most influential groups.
This special edition is pressed on striking red and black marble vinyl, making it an essential addition to any classic hip hop vinyl collection.
