Recensie

Peter Fox, the frontman of Seeed, releases his solo album. A new sound was needed. Synthezisers were banned. Orchestra was the order of the day. Own melodies and string riffs were composed. The goal was clearly formulated. The album "Stadtaffe" has to bang. No half measures. First-class production. German lyrics rhymed at the highest level. Gladly with pathos. But without embarrassment. Everything new for Germany's music landscape. Everything polished to a high gloss. Demolition and reconstruction. Film music to dance to.

Actually, Peter wanted to make an album only as a producer, that is, he makes the beats, gives song structures and someone else sings on it. Because although the frontman of SEEED is anything but unsuccessful with his singing, he sees himself a little differently: "I see myself primarily as a producer. I actually only sing out of necessity, because no one else wanted to sing at the time. You know how it is. Women always want to sing and get on the microphone. Men always want to play drums, guitar or bass. At least that's how it was with us. Later I realized that singing goes down very well with the chicks, and then of course I thought it was cool."

Peter's attitude to his music is quite different. While he still considers his voice to be VW, he considers his beats to be Ferrari without false understatement. A fact that may also have been recognized by Cee-Lo Green, who, clearly a Ferrari among the voices of this world, gladly agreed to collaborate with Mr. Fuchs. 2 drums were recorded in a three-week mega session in a studio in France, because there was no question of sampling any drum sounds. A new sound was needed. Synthezisers were also forbidden. Orchestra was the order of the day. Own melodies and string riffs were composed. In addition, Peter teamed up with a co-lyricist (Monk), to whom he could pass mental balls, who corrected him and whom he also - which is rare with him - trusted stylistically. Whereas it used to be enough that two lines of text were bangers and the next 2 were waved through, now all 4 had to crack! The texts should stand for themselves and not leave any doubts. The goal is clearly formulated. The album "Stadtaffe" must bang. No half measures. First-class production. German lyrics rhymed at the highest level. Gladly with pathos. But without embarrassment. Everything new for Germany's music landscape. Everything polished to a high gloss. Demolition and reconstruction. Film music to dance to.
