Na een paar uitstapjes die de band middels een tweetal akoestische albums zich permitteerde keert het
Amerikaans - Ierse punk gezelschap Dropkick Murphys met dit dertiende studioalbum gelukkig terug naar
de roots. Niet dat de rustigere uitstapjes onverdienstelijk waren, maar ze misten toch de kracht en
energie waar de band zo om bekend staat. for The People opent gelijk met een knaller Who'll Stand
With Us? en rijgt vervolgens de meezingers aan elkaar.The Big Man, Kids Games en Fiending For The Lies
zullen geheid de concertzalen weer op hun grondvesten doen schudden. Fans van de band kunnen meer
dan tevreden zijn over de terugkeer naar de roots. De band slaat eigenlijk opnieuw reeds verkende
paden in en doet vooral waar het goed in is; aanstekelijke celtic punk rock nummers neerzetten en toont

Dropkick Murphys’ new album For The People shows courage and confidence, speaking up against the injustices happening in the United States, doing so with the strength and power that harkens back to Dropkick Murphys’ earliest punk rock roots. For The People is more than a title. It’s a heartfelt stance, a declaration of who this band is—and who they’ve always been.
For The People will be released digitally on July 4 via the band’s Dummy Luck Music / [PIAS], with the LP and CD release featuring 5 bonus tracks out October 10. The poignant album cover was created by renowned social/political artist Shepard Fairey's design firm Studio Number One, and the album was produced and mixed by longtime Dropkick Murphys collaborator Ted Hutt.
For The People rises to its moment: an expression of humanity at a time of relentless dehumanization, a promise of hope in an era fuelled by fear-mongering, a declaration of solidarity in an age of disunion, a defiant rebuttal to the charlatans and demagogues who seek to divide us for their own power.
Dropkick Murphys proudly remain Boston’s rock ‘n’ roll underdogs turned champions. Since 1996, the boys have created the kind of music that’s meant to be chanted at last call, in packed arenas, and during the fourth quarter, third period, or ninth inning of a comeback rally. Their celebrated discography includes four consecutive Billboard top 10 album debuts (Turn Up That Dial, 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory, Signed and Sealed in Blood, Going Out In Style), along with 2005’s Certified-Gold album The Warrior’s Code featuring the double platinum classic “I’m Shipping Up To Boston".
