Na ‘Shake Your Money Maker’ en The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion’ is het nu de beurt aan het derde Black Crowes album ‘Amorica’ om een deluxe uitgave te krijgen.
Commercieel was het album minder succesvol dan zijn twee voorgangers, creatief was het echter een openbaring voor zowel de band als fans.
De deluxe edition bevat, naast een nieuwe geremasterde versie van het originele album, een compleet album met onuitgebracht werk, ‘Tallest’ getiteld. Deze nummers waren voor het eigenlijke derde album ‘Tall’ bedoeld, maar de band besloot destijds het album niet uit te brengen en begon direct met de ‘Amorica’ opnames’. Verder bevat verschillende studio sessies en diverse memorabilia.
The 3CD box set includes:
CD1: A newly remastered Amorica. sourced from the original 1/4"" production master tapes. The album includes 3 Amorica. era bonus tracks: Chevrolet (Taj Mahal cover), ""Song of the Flesh"" (2025 Mix) and the instrumental ""Sunday Night Buttermilk Waltz” (2025 Mix).
CD2: Tallest fixes the stories behind the lost/scrapped album Tall and the mish-mashed Lost Crowes version of Tall. With guidance from Rich Robinson, George Drakoulias and Martin Pradler did new mixes of the Tall era recordings from the January 1994 Conway sessions 2” 24 track multis. Tallest leaves out the songs that were re-recorded and end up on Amorica. and creates its own sonically cohesive album that also includes 3 unreleased songs: ""Title Song,"" ""Bitter, Bitter You"" and ""Paris Song"" an early instrumental version of ""Cursed Diamond” that were worked on in summer of 1993.
CD3: Marie Laveau Sessions + Live at AIR Studios, London, UK October 25, 1994. CD3 collects an incredible recording session by the band from October 1992. The 7 songs were recorded at Kingsway Studios in New Orleans, LA. All songs are previously unreleased. The band tell the story they would work up songs on tour and then hit a studio on a day off to record the songs. An acoustic version of Nonfiction is the only song from this early session that ends up on Amorica. The last 4 songs are live songs aired on the worldwide radio broadcast of Amorica. Outside of the radio airing, these songs have never been made available.
