The group ENHYPEN’s 7th mini album ‘THE SIN : VANISH’ has sparked attention with the participation of actor Park Jeong-min, Dynamic Duo’s Gaeko, and band New Boyz’s So!YoON! (Hwang Soyoon). The meeting of trendsetters and the experimental track composition combining music and narrative have raised anticipation.
ENHYPEN (Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunwoo, Niky) posted ‘‘THE SIN : VANISH’ Narration Preview’ on their official YouTube channel on the 11th. The video allows a preview of narration tracks included in the album: ‘The Beginning of the Incident’, ‘The Runaway’, ‘The Voice We Sought’, and ‘Beyond the Incident’.
The narration, which also serves as the voice of a program host reporting on a vampire escape incident, was produced in four languages: Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese. This approach aims to let global listeners fully enjoy the emotional flow of the album without language barriers.
Actor Park Jeong-min handled the Korean narration, collaborating from the early stages of production. He delivered the message, “Finally, we dream of the forbidden act of crossing the absolute rules of vampire society and stepping over the line that must not be crossed,” in a low, calm voice, adding weight to the album’s narrative. Japanese narration was handled by local actor and voice actor Tsuda Kenjiro (津田健次郎), while Chinese narration was led by popular singer Huang Zihongfan (Lars Huang).
According to the agency Belift Lab, ‘THE SIN : VANISH’ includes four narrations, one SKIT·situation play, and six music tracks, totaling 11 tracks. As a ‘concept album’ where lyrics and sounds are organically connected, the narrative unfolds in the form of an investigative reporting program called ‘Mystery Show’ that tracks an unprecedented vampire couple’s escape.
The six music tracks are also intricately connected, following the story’s flow. The first track, ‘No Way Back (Feat. So!YoON!)’, delicately portrays the complex psychology of a vampire who chooses to escape for love, torn between determination and anxiety. So!YoON! (Hwang Soyoon) of the band New Boyz will feature, adding a dreamy yet intense synergy.
The title track ‘Knife’ depicts the inner world of the couple who have become fugitives. The confidence to retaliate against the blades of the pursuit team guarding vampire society’s rules and the boldness to enjoy even danger are projected into the song, completing a dramatic narrative. Gaeko of Dynamic Duo added his name to the lyric credits, making the song’s color more vivid.
Following this, ‘Stealer’ describes the explosive adrenaline of fleeing with ‘You’, while ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ shows the couple’s psychological changes as they playfully comfort each other during the escape. ‘Lost Island’ expresses the romantic moments of the couple deeply falling for each other amid the chaotic escape.
The final track ‘Sleep Tight’ brings the couple’s escape journey to a temporary close. This song, which calmly portrays the complex emotions between happiness and anxiety in the short respite after the escape, is Jake’s first self-composed work. Heeseung also contributed to the lyrics.
