Nou stond Social Distortion al niet bekend om hun muzikale productiviteit maar eindelijk is het wachten voor de fans, waaronder ondergetekende, voorbij. Born To Kill is een album waar, met tussenpozen, zo'n 15 jaar aan is gewerkt. Natuurlijk heeft de band veel opgetreden en blijft Ness een perfectionist die niet snel tevreden is maar er zijn ook de nodige tegenslagen geweest waar de band mee te maken kreeg. Onder andere keelkanker bij zanger Mike Ness zorgde voor vertraging. Vooruitgeschoven singles Born To Kill en Partners In Crime maakten gelukkig duidelijk dat de band niks heeft ingeboet aan muzikale kracht en Ness niks aan vocale power. Neem alleen al de heerlijk cover van Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, het opzwepende Tonight, het rauwe Walk Away of het laid back nummer Crazy Dreamer en de fans weten genoeg. Dit is het lange wachten meer dan waard geweest. Social Distortion is terug met een knaller van een album! (Emiel Schuurman)

sounds of the 1970s, his formative adolescent years. Born to Kill is a continuation of
the bar of excellence that Social Distortion and, in turn, Ness has long been praised
for.

Born to Kill is a body of work that will live long in the Social Distortion catalog. Songs
like the hard-charging title track that serves as the album's mission statement, along
with the riff- laden "Partners in Crime," the nostalgic "The Way Things Were," and
rollicking "Tonight" are songs that fit in across any of Social Distortion's various eras.
