OUTKAST

ATLiens (1996) is OutKast’s second album and shows a big change from their debut. The sound became darker, more futuristic, and more experimental, combining Southern hip-hop with spacey production and funk. The album explores growing up, fame, spirituality, relationships, Atlanta, and feeling like outsiders. André 3000 became more introspective, while Big Boi developed his confident, technical rap style. Key tracks include “Elevators (Me & You),” “ATLiens,” “Two Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac),” and “Jazzy Belle.” Overall, ATLiens was the album where OutKast began developing their unique, futuristic identity and moved beyond traditional Southern rap.
