The introductory volume Brass Fantasia I, performed by the magnificent Ueno no Mori Brass, serves as the brilliant genesis of this brass quintet’s exploration into Joe Hisaishi’s legendary Studio Ghibli catalog. Originally released as a CD set in 1994, this spectacular album received its long-awaited, first-ever analog pressing on black vinyl via Studio Ghibli Records. By stripping away massive orchestral layers, the quintet uses a clean arrangement of trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba to recast these cinematic anthems in a distinctly intimate, acoustically rich concert-hall light.
