Recensie
Als de Manics voor het eerst op het toneel verschijnen, is vooral het image de blikvanger. Ze presenteren zich als de nieuwe The Clash met dito sterk politieke teksten, terwijl ze zich kleden in glamrock stijl met make up. Tekstschrijver Richey James verdwijnt echter na drie albums op onverklaarbare wijze, hij laat nog wel wat teksten na. Het overgebleven trio gaat ondanks dit verlies aan de slag met een nieuwe plaat die hun uiteindelijke doorbraak zou beteken. Vlaggenschip is natuurlijk single A Design For Life, maar het album levert meerdere hits op. Er verscheen al eerder een 10 jarige jubileum editie en nu een zeer uitgebreide 20th Anniversary Edition. Hierop naast het album een volledige show uit 1997, een Making Of docu en diverse video’s. Daarnaast zijn alle b-kantjes verzameld op de extra schijf.
