Recensie

In 1977, a raw, up-and-coming young singer by the name of Candy McKenzie flew from her native London to Kingston, Jamaica, where she promptly commenced work with a producer widely considered to be finest the island has ever produced: Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry.

Their collaborations resulted in a collection of high quality recordings that were presented to Island Records as a complete album, yet the LP was inexplicably rejected, with the master tapes subsequently left to collect dust in the vaults.

In 2011, after a wait of more than three decades, music fans were finally allowed access to these long lost works when Trojan Records manufactured 500 vinyl copies for its on-line shop. And now, almost 40 years after its creation, this must-have Black Ark masterpiece is finally made available on CD for the very first time – for the same price as a plate of jerk chicken and rice!
