Recensie
Het is niet voor de eerste keer dat het (tragische) leven van de legendarische Mexicaanse schilderes Frida Kahlo verfilmd wordt, maar door de Amerikaanse productie krijgt deze editie wel de meeste aandacht in de media. Vooral natuurlijk door de hoofdrol van Salma Hayek. Deze biopic geeft echter een wel een zeer geromantiseerd beeld van Frida's leven als kunstenares en minnares van Diego Rivera, die ook wel eens de Mexicaanse Picasso genoemd wordt. Hun relatie wordt afgeschilderd als een verhouding zoals die van Elisabeth Taylor en Richard Burton. Lekker sappig. Ook zijn enkele feiten verdraaid of gewoon vergeten. Het is al met al vooral een mooie plaatjes film geworden. Maar nu de soundtrack. Dat is pas echt een mooi plaatje!
