Nog maar net corona overleefd levert Marianne Faithfull een spoken word album af, waarop Bad Seed Warren Ellis voor de stemmige muziek zorgt, met gastrollen voor Eno, Cave, cellist Vincent Ségal en producer-engineer Head . Het repertoire is gekozen uit het werk van de Engelse romantische dichters, de titelsong is van Byron, de usual suspects zijn verder Keats, Shelley, Tennyson. Wordworth en Thomas Hood. Mooi hoor, aangrijpend ook, de hoorbaar oude zangeres die de onsterfelijke teksten leest van een door de dood geobsedeerde generatie dichters, die zelf ook alweer enige tijd onder de zoden ligt. Zoals Faithfulls ontdekker, Mick Jagger, 52 jaar geleden al zijn Shelley erbij pakte om Brian Jones’ dood te omlijsten (‘Peace, peace! he is not dead, he doth not sleep, He hath awaken'd from the dream of life’), zo brengt zij nu een passend duistere lezing van Ozymandias. Tijdloos.
